ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Management of Non-pharmacologic Delirium," is focused on finding effective ways to help manage delirium, a sudden change in mental state that can cause confusion and disorientation, especially in older adults. The study will use a special action plan that includes non-drug treatments to help prevent, identify, and treat delirium in hospitalized patients. Researchers will closely monitor patients at Igualada Hospital, checking for cases of delirium and recording the activities provided by nursing staff twice each day.
To be part of this trial, participants need to be over 60 years old and have at least one risk factor for developing delirium, such as being male, taking multiple medications, or having a urinary tract infection. Unfortunately, individuals under 60 years old or those who are likely to pass away soon for reasons not related to delirium cannot join. This study is currently not recruiting participants, but it aims to improve care for older patients in hospitals by using simple, non-drug approaches to manage their mental health during treatment.
