ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at different ways to preserve parts of the heart during mitral valve replacement surgery. Specifically, it will compare two approaches: one where both important parts of the heart (called leaflets) are kept intact, and another where only one part is preserved. The goal is to see which method leads to better outcomes for patients with mitral valve problems, particularly those caused by rheumatic disease.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be between 18 and 60 years old and have specific heart conditions that require replacement of the mitral valve. However, individuals who have had previous heart surgeries or certain serious health issues are not eligible to participate. While the trial is not yet recruiting participants, those who join can expect to have their health monitored closely as researchers gather information on how effective each surgical method is. This study aims to help improve future treatments for patients undergoing mitral valve replacement.
