ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how breathing problems during sleep, specifically a condition called obstructive sleep apnea, might relate to long-term fatigue after a stroke. Stroke survivors often experience issues with their breathing at night, and many also struggle with fatigue that can affect their daily life. The goal of the study is to see if there’s a link between these sleep-related breathing issues and the risk of developing significant fatigue after a stroke.
To participate, individuals must be over 18 years old and have had a stroke or a mini-stroke (known as a TIA). Participants will stay in the hospital and use a special pad under their mattress to monitor their breathing and a wrist device to track their blood oxygen levels. They will also answer questions about their daily activities and symptoms of sleep apnea. A year later, participants will return for a follow-up to discuss their fatigue and any depression symptoms. By understanding these connections, the researchers hope to improve awareness and treatment options for sleep apnea in stroke survivors, potentially leading to better management of post-stroke fatigue.
