ClinConnect Summary
The TrackFrailty Project is a research study focused on understanding frailty in older adults living in residential care facilities in Portugal. The study aims to find out how common physical frailty is in this population, what factors might indicate a person's frailty status, and whether strength training can help improve the health of those who are frail. Researchers will also explore how much strength training is needed for the best long-term health benefits.
To participate in the study, individuals must be men or women living in residential care facilities in the Cova da Beira region who are either non-frail, pre-frail, or frail. Participants should be able to communicate and give consent to join the study. However, people with severe dementia or those who are bedridden and hospitalized will not be eligible. Those who take part can expect to engage in strength training exercises and contribute to important research that could help improve care for frail individuals in the future.
