ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at different ways to help premature babies who are born before 32 weeks of pregnancy. The study focuses on three techniques for transferring blood and nutrients from the placenta to the baby: milking the umbilical cord while it’s still intact, milking it after cutting, and delaying the cutting of the cord. Researchers want to understand how these methods can affect the health and development of premature babies during their first few days of life.
To participate in this trial, babies must be born before 32 weeks of pregnancy and will be admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit right after birth. However, babies with certain conditions, such as major birth defects or serious injuries at birth, will not be eligible. If your baby qualifies and you choose to participate, the family can expect to know more about how these different techniques might help improve outcomes for premature infants. It’s important to discuss any questions or concerns with your healthcare provider to understand what this study means for your baby.
