ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, called the Parkinson's Disease Biomarker Study, aims to understand how remote monitoring can help track movement symptoms in people with Parkinson's disease (PD) and those at risk of developing it. Researchers are looking for participants who have idiopathic REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD), diagnosed Parkinson's disease, or are healthy individuals as a comparison. All participants will use a smartphone app to complete daily movement tests and have their movements monitored from a distance. Additionally, they will undergo neurological exams and imaging tests, including DaT-SPECT and MRI scans, over the course of one year.

To be eligible for this study, participants need to be over 40 years old, able to follow the study guidelines, and provide consent. Some individuals may not be suitable for this study if they have recently participated in another clinical trial, have moderate to severe depression, or have other health conditions that could affect their participation. This study is important because it not only looks at how technology can help in monitoring PD symptoms but also tests a new method to identify a specific protein in the skin that may indicate Parkinson's disease.
