ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the gender of patients affects their communication with anesthesiologists when discussing the risks of anesthesia before surgery. The researchers want to understand if male and female patients perceive and understand anesthesia-related risks differently and how that might influence their conversations with doctors. The goal is to improve the way these important discussions happen, ensuring that patients feel more comfortable sharing their concerns and making informed decisions about their care.
To participate in this study, individuals must be male or female patients scheduled for short to moderate surgeries, be willing to participate, and have at least a bachelor's degree. The researchers are looking for patients who are generally healthy (classified as ASA-I or ASA-II, which simply means they have mild to no health issues) and are open to having their conversations recorded for analysis. However, those undergoing major or emergency surgeries, or those who do not meet the eligibility criteria, will not be included. Participants can expect to take part in conversations about their anesthesia risks, which will help provide insights into how to better communicate with all patients in the future.
