ClinConnect Summary
The Delivering HOPE trial is studying whether providing healthy food to pregnant women can help them maintain a healthy weight during pregnancy. The researchers want to see if giving women money to buy nutritious foods, along with standard nutrition advice and support services, can reduce the number of women who gain too much weight while pregnant. They will compare two groups of women: one group will receive the usual support for healthy eating and weight gain, while the other group will receive the same support plus financial help specifically for healthy food purchases.
To participate in this study, women need to be between 16 and 44 years old, less than 18 weeks pregnant, and able to speak English, Spanish, or Marshallese. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but once it starts, about 1,440 women will be involved. Participants can expect to receive guidance on nutrition and weight gain, as well as assistance in accessing programs that provide food support. This trial aims to help improve the health of mothers and their babies by promoting healthier eating during pregnancy.
