ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at new ways to diagnose and monitor treatment for children with tuberculosis (TB), a serious infection that affects the lungs. Researchers want to see if they can use different samples, like stool or urine, instead of just taking samples from the lungs to find out if a child has TB. Once diagnosed, they will check if the TB bacteria are resistant to common medications, which means the medicine might not work as well. Throughout the treatment, children will be monitored to see how they are doing and how their lungs are recovering. They will also fill out a questionnaire about their quality of life to understand how the illness and treatment are affecting them.
To participate in this trial, children must be under 15 years old and being evaluated for respiratory TB. A parent or guardian needs to agree to the study by signing a consent form, and older children may also need to give their own agreement. This trial is currently looking for participants, and it aims to help improve the way we diagnose and treat TB in young patients, ultimately aiming for better health outcomes for children affected by this disease.
