ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into how often patients develop hernias after having emergency surgery for conditions like appendicitis, gallbladder issues, or bowel problems. A hernia occurs when an internal part of the body pushes through a weakness in the surrounding muscle or tissue. The study aims to find out the risk factors and how common these postoperative hernias are in patients who have undergone urgent surgeries.
To participate in this study, patients must be over 18 years old and have had emergency surgery for specific reasons, such as acute appendicitis or a perforated bowel. After their surgery, participants will be contacted about a year later for a brief phone interview to check if they have experienced any issues, like a suspected hernia. If a hernia is suspected, they will be invited to a follow-up appointment for further testing. It’s important to note that this trial is not currently recruiting participants.
