ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how measuring muscle mass in the legs using ultrasound can help predict how long women with gynecologic cancer might stay in the hospital after surgery. As women age, especially those over 50, they may experience a loss of muscle strength and mass, known as sarcopenia. This can make recovery from surgery more difficult. By using a quick and simple ultrasound method to check muscle mass, the researchers hope to find a better way to assess patients' health and improve their recovery process.
To be part of this trial, participants need to be women over 50 years old who are undergoing certain types of surgeries for gynecologic cancer and have a specific health score indicating they have multiple health issues. Participants will have a non-invasive ultrasound to measure their muscle mass and will be monitored after surgery to see how this measurement relates to their hospital stay. It's important to note that women who refuse to participate, are under 50, have certain psychiatric conditions, or have specific muscle or nerve disorders will not be eligible for the trial.
