ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different ways to manage pain for patients with idiopathic scoliosis who are having surgery called posterior spinal fusion. The researchers want to see if a method called the mid-transverse process to pleura (MTP) block, which involves injecting medication near the spine, is more effective than a patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) system, where patients can give themselves pain relief as needed. The study is currently looking for participants who are 18 years or older and are in good health, specifically those with idiopathic scoliosis who are scheduled for this type of surgery.
To be eligible, participants must not have certain conditions like infections at the injection site, allergies to the medications being studied, or a history of severe obesity or chronic pain. If someone joins the trial, they can expect to receive either the MTP block or the PCA for pain management, and the research team will monitor their pain levels and overall experience during recovery. This trial is important because it could help improve pain management strategies for future patients undergoing similar surgeries.
