ClinConnect Summary

The Wireless Prosthetic Control Effectiveness Study is looking at a new wireless electrode system called the ASTERISK, designed to improve the experience for people using prosthetic arms below the elbow. This study aims to determine how effective this innovative system is for users, as it could lead to better comfort, fit, and control of prosthetic devices. With wireless technology, it will be easier for users to manage their prostheses, especially those who have had surgery to integrate the prosthesis into their body.

To participate in this study, you need to currently use a myoelectric prosthesis—this means it is controlled by your muscle signals— and have been using it for at least six months. You should be able to understand English to help with the consent process. Unfortunately, if you have certain neurological or physical issues that could interfere with the tasks you'll be asked to do, or if you're pregnant, you won't be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to contribute to important research that could shape future prosthetic designs, ultimately benefiting others in the prosthetic community.
