ClinConnect Summary
The Drinking in Young Adult Duos (DYAD) Study is looking at how alcohol use can affect romantic relationships. In this study, couples aged 21 to 30 who regularly drink alcohol will participate in a session where they will either drink an alcoholic beverage or a non-alcoholic one and complete some tasks together. After the session, they will share their drinking habits and experiences related to alcohol and their relationship through quick surveys on their smartphones. They will also check in again at 6 months and 12 months to see how things have changed.
To be eligible for the study, both partners in the couple must be between 21 and 30 years old, drink alcohol regularly, and own a smartphone. However, people who have had serious problems with alcohol, are pregnant, or have certain health issues that could be worsened by drinking are not allowed to participate. This study aims to help us understand how drinking affects relationships, which could lead to better strategies for promoting healthier behaviors in couples.
