ClinConnect Summary
The GYVE study is looking at an online program designed to help women who have had breast or gynecologic cancer and are facing pelvic health issues, such as urinary incontinence and pain during sex. These problems can arise from the cancer and its treatments, making it difficult for some women to carry out daily activities and enjoy a good quality of life. The program will involve about 20 participants from Quebec and Edmonton, who will take part in a 12-week course that includes weekly online group sessions with a physiotherapist. Participants will learn about pelvic floor muscle exercises, how to use vaginal moisturizers, and tips on hydration, diet, and managing pain.
To join the study, women must be over 18 years old and have been diagnosed with breast or certain types of gynecologic cancer within the last three years. They should also be experiencing urogenital problems, which will be assessed using a simple questionnaire. It’s important for potential participants to have regular access to the internet and a smart device or computer at home. This study aims to gather information on how effective this online program can be, which could help many others facing similar challenges after cancer treatment.
