ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether vitamin C injections can help prevent and treat bruises in patients who have had an ischemic stroke, which is a type of stroke caused by a blockage in the blood vessels in the brain. Bruises can be common among stroke patients and may lead to additional health risks, such as infections. The researchers want to find out if giving vitamin C shortly after a stroke can reduce the number and severity of bruises, as well as improve overall recovery.
To be eligible for the study, participants must be between 20 and 85 years old and diagnosed with an ischemic stroke confirmed by brain imaging. Those with certain health conditions, such as cancer, kidney disease, or blood disorders, will not be included. If accepted into the trial, participants will receive either vitamin C injections or a saline solution (a harmless saltwater solution) for four days, and their skin condition will be monitored during and after their hospital stay. Ultimately, this study aims to improve the quality of life for stroke patients by addressing not just their recovery from the stroke itself, but also the secondary issues like bruising.
