ClinConnect Summary
The "Sleep TMS for Depression" clinical trial is looking at a new treatment method for people with major depression. This study aims to see if a technique called sleep-state transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) can help improve depression symptoms by enhancing the brain's ability to adapt and change. The trial is not currently recruiting participants, but it will include adults aged 65 to 74 and 23 to 740 years old, regardless of gender. To be eligible, participants must have a diagnosis of major depressive disorder, have tried at least one antidepressant without success, and experience moderate to severe depression.
If you join this study, you can expect to receive a treatment that involves TMS while you sleep. The researchers want to understand how well this treatment works and if it is safe and tolerable for patients. However, there are some important factors that may prevent some people from participating, such as having a significant head injury, being pregnant, or having ongoing substance use or suicidal thoughts. This trial offers a potential new option for those who have struggled with traditional depression treatments.
