ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) on scars that develop after surgeries like tummy tucks (abdominoplasty) and breast reduction. The researchers want to understand how this treatment might help improve the healing process and appearance of scars. They will look at tissue samples from patients to see how ESWT affects the skin on a cellular level and to find the best way to use this therapy for better scar healing.
To participate in the trial, you must be between 18 and 80 years old, speak Dutch or English, and have had surgery that resulted in a dermal scar from an abdominoplasty. Unfortunately, if you have certain skin conditions, have had previous surgery at the same scar site, or are pregnant, you won't be eligible to join. If you qualify, you can expect to receive the shock wave therapy and have your scars monitored to see how they change over time. This study aims to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and practical treatment for scar management, potentially leading to better outcomes for patients.
