ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of skin-to-skin contact between mothers and their newborns right after birth, particularly how it impacts both their emotional and physical well-being. Previous research has shown that this practice can help mothers with breastfeeding, reduce stress, and even lead to quicker healing after childbirth. For babies, being held close to their mother can help them feel more comfortable, keep them warm, and improve their chances of successful breastfeeding.
To participate in this study, mothers must be healthy and pregnant with a single baby, expecting to give birth by planned cesarean section, and at least 37 weeks along in their pregnancy. Unfortunately, mothers with certain health conditions, complications in their pregnancy, or those expecting multiple babies won't be eligible. Those who take part can expect to have their experiences and responses measured to better understand the benefits of skin-to-skin contact, which could help improve care for mothers and newborns in the future.
