ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a condition called sarcopenia, which means loss of muscle mass and strength, affects patients dealing with serious illnesses like liver cirrhosis and cancer. Researchers want to find out if they can better predict a patient’s health outcomes by using simple tools like ultrasound and blood tests to measure sarcopenia early on. Currently, more complicated methods are used, and the goal is to see if these simpler techniques can provide the same valuable information.
The trial is open to patients aged 65 and older who are undergoing treatment for gastrointestinal tumors, have liver cirrhosis, or are in the intensive care unit. To participate, individuals need to be able to give their consent and should not have any inherited muscle disorders. If you or a loved one qualifies, joining this study could help improve understanding of how muscle health influences recovery in serious illnesses. Participants will undergo tests to assess their muscle health and contribute to important research that may benefit future patients.
