ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a type of weight-loss surgery called One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (OAGB), which is known to help people lose weight and improve health problems related to obesity. The trial aims to find out if customizing a specific part of the surgery, called the biliopancreatic limb (BPL), based on each person's small bowel length leads to better weight loss results compared to using a standard length. Participants will be randomly assigned to either have their BPL tailored to 40% of their total small bowel length or to follow the standard length of 180 cm.
To be eligible for the study, participants must be adults aged 18 and older who are planning to undergo OAGB surgery. However, those under 18, pregnant women, or individuals who have had previous weight-loss surgery won't be included. Throughout the study, participants can expect follow-up appointments at various intervals to monitor their weight loss, any potential nutritional issues, and overall quality of life. The study is designed to last for eight years, with each participant being followed for a standard period to gather important data.
