ClinConnect Summary
The Florida Community-Engaged Research Alliance (FL-CEAL) trial aims to understand how to better support people facing non-medical challenges that can impact their health. Researchers want to find out if having Community Health Workers—local individuals who provide basic health and medical support—can help more than just providing pamphlets or reading materials about health issues. This study is particularly focused on communities that experience significant health disparities.
To participate in this trial, individuals must live in the targeted community and not plan to move away in the next six months. They should also have at least two unmet social needs that affect their well-being. Eligibility varies by location, but generally includes adults aged 18 and over, with some specific criteria for women, pregnant individuals, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Participants can expect to engage with Community Health Workers and contribute to research that aims to improve health support in their community. It's important to note that people who are currently in jail or have participated in similar studies recently cannot join this trial.
