ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on improving the health and well-being of nurses who work night shifts. It aims to test two different strategies to help reduce fatigue and burnout among these nurses. The first strategy provides access to a quiet room where nurses can take short naps or relax during their breaks. The second involves wearing special glasses that block certain types of light while they work at night. The goal of the study is to see if these interventions can help nurses feel better, reduce any missed care, and lower burnout levels.
To participate in this trial, you need to be a registered nurse working full-time night or rotating shifts at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, PA. You should be willing to wear a Fitbit to track your activity and sleep, use the relaxation room and glasses when assigned, and provide saliva samples for research purposes. However, if you have a diagnosed sleep disorder, are being treated for a serious mental illness, or need prescription glasses for your work, you won't be eligible to join. This study is important because happy and healthy nurses are key to providing great care for patients, and the results could lead to better working conditions for nurses everywhere.
