ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether medical students, nursing students, anesthesiology and intensive care residents, and experienced intensive care nurses can successfully learn to measure the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) using ultrasound after a short training course. Measuring the ONSD is important because it helps estimate pressure inside the skull, which can be critical in various medical situations. The study will involve 40 participants who will go through a four-hour training session that includes a lecture, a demonstration, and hands-on practice. They will then take a test to ensure they understand the material before performing measurements on healthy volunteers.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be either medical or nursing students, or residents in anesthesiology or intensive care, and should have at least three years of experience in an intensive care unit. Importantly, those who already have experience with ONSD measurements are not eligible. The goal of this study is to show that with proper training, these healthcare professionals can accurately perform ONSD measurements, which could enhance its use in various medical settings.
