ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is exploring how coloring mandala designs can help reduce feelings of anxiety and depression in patients scheduled for open heart surgery. The study will involve 84 patients who are waiting for this surgery. Half of the participants will spend time coloring mandalas for at least two hours each day leading up to their surgery, while the other half will not receive any coloring activity. This approach aims to see if engaging in this creative activity can improve emotional well-being before undergoing a significant medical procedure.

To be eligible for the trial, participants must be between the ages of 65 and 74, newly diagnosed with coronary artery disease, and not have had any prior heart surgery. They also need to be able to read Turkish. Patients with cognitive impairments or serious medical conditions like cancer or stroke cannot participate. If you or a family member are interested in this study, you can expect to engage in a relaxing and creative activity that may help ease anxiety during a stressful time.
