ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, titled "Atrial Strain in Septic Shock," is studying how well certain echocardiography (a type of ultrasound for the heart) techniques can measure heart function in patients experiencing septic shock, a serious condition that can lead to organ failure and is often life-threatening. The researchers want to compare two different software programs used to analyze heart images to see if they provide consistent results. They will also look at a new technology called AutoStrain to see how reliable it is when different people analyze the images. The goal is to improve how heart function is measured in critically ill patients, which can help doctors make better treatment decisions.

To be eligible for this study, participants must be adults over 18 years old who have been admitted to critical care for septic shock and have had a transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) as part of their treatment. However, individuals who are pregnant, have significant heart valve problems, or certain heart rhythm issues at the time of the TTE will not be included. Since this study uses existing heart images, participants can expect that their past echocardiograms will be reviewed, and no new procedures will be performed specifically for this study. Overall, the findings from this trial may lead to more standardized and accurate assessments of heart function in patients facing severe illness.
