ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating whether garlic tablets can help prevent infections that patients might get while being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). These infections, known as nosocomial infections, can happen to patients who are already very ill. The study aims to find out if taking garlic tablets can reduce the chances of getting these infections in ICU patients.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be between 18 and 65 years old and must not have any infections at the time of their ICU admission. However, individuals who show signs of infection, have certain health conditions like HIV or cancer, or are scheduled for surgery within the next two weeks will not be eligible. Participants in this trial can expect to take garlic tablets and will be monitored to see if this treatment helps reduce their risk of infections while they are in the ICU. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to provide important information about the potential benefits of garlic in a hospital setting.
