ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new way to help elderly patients with hand arthritis manage their pain and improve their quality of life. The researchers are looking at whether combining virtual reality (a computer-generated experience) with hypnosis (a state of focused attention) can effectively reduce pain for these patients. They want to find out if this combination can lead to better pain control and improved daily living compared to a control group that will receive standard treatment while waiting for the trial to start.
To join this study, participants need to be fluent in French, have a diagnosis of hand arthritis, and experience significant chronic pain due to this condition. Those who have cognitive or sensory disorders that could impact their ability to take part in the study won't be eligible. If selected, participants will receive a virtual reality headset to use during the trial, where they will experience the combined therapy. This trial will help researchers understand if this innovative approach can make a real difference in managing arthritis pain for older adults.
