ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how emergency doctors prescribe pain relief, specifically opioids, to patients with sickle cell disease who come to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain. It aims to understand if there are any differences in how doctors treat these patients, especially considering issues like discrimination and racial bias in healthcare. The study will involve presenting a scenario to emergency doctors and asking what pain medications they would choose for a patient in this situation.
To participate in this study, you need to be an emergency physician working in Europe. Unfortunately, if you're outside of Europe, you won’t be eligible to take part. While this study is not yet recruiting participants, it will provide important insights into pain management for sickle cell disease and how it might be affected by a doctor's background or beliefs. This research could help improve care for patients by highlighting any biases that may exist in treatment.
