ClinConnect Summary
The +AGIL Barcelona clinical trial is designed to help older adults who may be experiencing frailty improve their physical abilities and maintain independence. This program includes up to 10 weekly group exercise sessions led by a physiotherapist, focusing on strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance. Participants will also receive helpful advice on healthy habits, such as following a Mediterranean diet, improving sleep, and managing any memory or swallowing difficulties. Additionally, healthcare professionals will review participants' medications to ensure they are safe and appropriate. The program aims to adapt to different neighborhoods in Barcelona, making it accessible to more people in the community.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be 65 years or older and show signs of frailty based on a specific screening test. Those who require hospital admission or have an estimated life expectancy of less than one year will not be included. This study will provide important insights into how to create practical programs that support older adults in staying healthy, active, and connected to their communities.
