ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how a new way of diagnosing epilepsy, introduced by the International League Against Epilepsy in 2014, affects patients after they have their first seizure. The study focuses on several important areas, such as how often seizures occur, how well patients stick to their medication, their quality of life, and their cognitive abilities (like memory and thinking skills) after the initial seizure.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have experienced their first epileptic seizure. They also need to be able to understand the information about the study and give their written consent to join. Importantly, people with a history of serious drug or alcohol abuse in the last two years cannot participate. If someone joins the study, they can expect to be monitored over time to see how their condition evolves and how the new diagnostic guidelines impact their overall health and well-being.
