ClinConnect Summary

The Bath Trial is a study aimed at understanding how two different bathing methods affect the health and comfort of children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at İzmir Dr. Behçet Uz Pediatric Diseases and Surgery Training and Research Hospital. The researchers want to see if traditional bathing and wipe bathing (a method that uses a cloth and special solution) impact vital signs like breathing rate and heart rate, as well as how comfortable the children feel. The study will include children who are hospitalized and whose parents agree to participate.

In this trial, the children will not be randomly assigned to different groups, as the bathing methods are already part of the hospital's routine. Traditional bathing happens once a week, while wipe bathing is done every two days. The study will measure the children's vital signs and comfort before and after each bathing method to compare the results. If your child is in the PICU and does not have any contraindications (reasons that would prevent bathing), and you are willing to participate, this study may be a good fit for you. The baths will be performed by a specialized nurse to ensure consistency in care.
