ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding how saliva can help us learn about dental caries, which are cavities that can form in teeth. The researchers want to see if there are differences in saliva markers related to caries among people from different racial backgrounds. By studying this, they hope to identify risk factors that contribute to the development of caries and find better ways to prevent them.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be between the ages of 19 and 25 and will be divided into two groups based on the severity of their cavities. Those with less severe cavities will have a score of 3 or lower, while those with more severe cavities will score 3 or higher. Unfortunately, individuals who use alcohol or tobacco daily, have taken antibiotics or certain medications in the last three months, or regularly use mouthwash or other antiseptics cannot participate. If you join the study, you can expect to provide saliva samples and possibly answer questions about your dental health. This research is still in the planning stages and has not yet started recruiting participants.
