ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the formation of biofilms on arterial catheters used in ICU patients. A biofilm is a thin layer of bacteria that can develop on medical devices, and it can lead to serious infections known as bacteremias. The researchers believe that understanding the structure and behavior of these biofilms could help prevent infections and improve treatments for patients who develop them.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old, currently hospitalized in the ICU with an arterial catheter (a thin tube inserted into a blood vessel), and provide informed consent. The trial is open to all genders and is currently recruiting participants. If you enroll, you can expect to help the researchers gather important information that could lead to better care for ICU patients in the future. It’s important to note that certain patients may not be eligible, such as those unable to give consent or those with catheters removed in an unusual manner.
