ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how patients in a closed psychiatric hospital unit respond to a calming room, which is a special space designed to help them relax. The main goal is to understand if issues with processing sensory information—like how they react to sounds, lights, or touch—could be causing them distress or tension. Researchers want to find out if patients who use the calming room have very sensitive or less sensitive reactions to sensory experiences.
To participate in this study, individuals must be between 18 and 65 years old and have been hospitalized for less than 10 days. Participants will take surveys before and after they use the calming room to help describe their sensory experiences. It's important that participants can understand the study's information and provide consent. Those with certain conditions, like dementia or a significant sensory disability, won’t be eligible. Overall, this study aims to better understand the needs of patients and improve their care in the hospital setting.
