ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different techniques for helping patients breathe during surgery: the traditional method called direct laryngoscopy and a newer method called videolaryngoscopy. Direct laryngoscopy has been the standard approach, but it can be challenging to master, especially for new doctors in training. In contrast, videolaryngoscopy offers a clearer view of the airway, making it easier for less experienced doctors to successfully insert a breathing tube (intubation) and receive guidance from supervisors. The aim of the trial is to find out which technique is better at achieving successful intubation on the first try and which one leads to fewer complications.
To participate in this study, patients must be 18 years or older and need a breathing tube for a surgical procedure performed by a resident anesthesiologist. However, those who require a different method for intubation or who have a complicated airway situation would not be eligible. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but once it starts, eligible patients can expect to be part of a comparison between these two intubation techniques, which could help improve the safety and effectiveness of anesthesia in the future.
