ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the body’s inflammatory response affects the severity of injuries caused by corrosive substances (like strong acids or bases) that children might accidentally swallow. Researchers at Assiut University Hospital want to understand how certain blood markers and inflammatory signals can help predict not only the immediate damage from these ingestions but also the long-term effects on the child's health. This information could help doctors provide better care for affected children.
To participate in the trial, children diagnosed with corrosive ingestion at Assiut University Hospital can be included. However, children with existing inflammatory diseases, those who have other emergencies, or those who come to the hospital more than 48 hours after the incident will not be eligible. If a child’s parents or guardians are unavailable or choose not to participate, they also cannot be included. While the study is not yet recruiting participants, it aims to gather valuable data that could improve treatment and outcomes for kids who suffer from these types of injuries.
