ClinConnect Summary
The Birth & Breastfeeding Support Study is looking to understand how certain birth practices and health conditions might influence breastfeeding. Specifically, it wants to find out if having a cesarean section (a surgical way to deliver a baby), using vacuum assistance during birth, and experiencing conditions like gestational diabetes or preeclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy) affect a mother’s ability to exclusively breastfeed her baby for the first three months after birth.
To participate in this study, mothers need to be at least 18 years old, planning to breastfeed, and able to read and understand Danish. Unfortunately, mothers who are having twins or are under 18 years old, or those who do not plan to breastfeed, cannot join. If eligible, participants will fill out a series of eight online surveys at different times, both before and after the baby is born, to share their experiences and insights about breastfeeding. This is a great opportunity to contribute to important research that could help support new mothers in their breastfeeding journey.
