ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking into the benefits of music therapy for premature infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Whittington NHS Trust in the UK. The study aims to gather evidence on how music therapy can help both the babies and their primary caregivers, as this approach has shown positive results in other countries but hasn't been explored much in the UK. By doing this research, the trial hopes to encourage more hospitals to consider music therapy as a helpful, non-invasive treatment option for infants.

To take part in the study, infants need to be at least 28 weeks old and medically stable while staying in the NICU. Their primary caregivers, who will be asked to fill out questionnaires, must be able to communicate in English. The NICU staff involved must have a month of experience working there and at least two days of experience with music therapy during the study. While the study is not yet recruiting participants, it aims to create a supportive environment for both infants and caregivers through the soothing power of music.
