ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how quickly different patients can get enough oxygen in their bodies before major abdominal surgery. Specifically, it compares two groups: those with sarcopenia, which means they have lost muscle mass, and those without this condition. The study will measure how long it takes for both groups to reach a certain level of oxygen in their breath and how quickly their oxygen levels drop during a process called preoxygenation, which helps prepare patients for surgery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be between 65 and 74 years old, agree to take part, and be scheduled for major abdominal cancer surgery. However, people with serious heart or lung diseases or those who have trouble walking cannot participate. If you decide to join the study, you’ll be helping researchers learn more about how sarcopenia affects how well patients are oxygenated before surgery, which could lead to better care in the future.
