ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of a medication called Zinacef, an antibiotic, on women who have meconium-stained amniotic fluid during their pregnancies. Meconium-stained amniotic fluid means that the baby has passed stool while still in the womb, which can sometimes lead to infections for both the mother and the baby. The trial aims to find out if giving Zinacef can help reduce the chances of infections compared to a placebo, which is an inactive treatment.

To be eligible for this trial, women must be in a single pregnancy at term (full term) and have meconium-stained amniotic fluid. Some women will not be able to participate if they have certain conditions, like an allergy to Zinacef or if they are carriers of a specific bacteria called GBS. Participants will receive either Zinacef or a placebo, and neither they nor the doctors will know which one they are getting, ensuring a fair comparison. This study will help doctors understand the best ways to manage infections in these situations, ultimately aiming to improve the health of mothers and their babies.
