ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at ways to prevent and control myopia, also known as nearsightedness, in children. The study will involve around 15,000 primary school students in Shanghai, China, and aims to see how different strategies, like spending more time outdoors and wearing specially designed glasses or contact lenses, can help reduce the risk of developing myopia or slow down its progression. Researchers want to understand how effective these interventions are and what factors might influence their success.
To participate in the study, children need to be enrolled in the selected schools and able to complete eye exams with the help of their parents or guardians, who must provide written consent. However, children with certain eye conditions or systemic health issues that could affect their eyesight won't be eligible. Throughout the study, participants will be monitored to see how their vision changes, and the researchers will also evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the interventions to find the best approaches for wider use in schools.
