ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new type of capsule designed to help diagnose slow transit constipation, a condition where bowel movements are infrequent or difficult. Researchers want to find out if this locally made capsule works as well as the standard capsule used for this purpose. Participants will take both capsules at the same time and will have an abdominal x-ray taken five days later to see how many markers from the capsules are still in their system. Additionally, they will keep a diary to track their symptoms and any medications they take during the study.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between 65 and 74 years old and generally healthy, with normal bowel habits or diagnosed with constipation based on specific criteria. Those with a history of certain abdominal surgeries, risks for intestinal blockages, or who are on medications that affect bowel movements (like opioids) are not eligible. It’s important to note that this trial is not yet recruiting participants, so those interested will need to wait until it begins.
