ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating two different treatments to help prevent repeated episodes of adhesive intestinal obstruction, a condition where scar tissue from previous abdominal surgeries causes blockages in the intestines. The study will compare the use of corticosteroids (a type of medication that reduces inflammation) and fresh frozen plasma (a blood product) to see which is more effective in preventing these blockages over a period of two years.
To participate in this trial, individuals aged 65 to 74 who have experienced episodes of adhesive intestinal obstruction may be eligible, as long as they do not have certain conditions like abdominal cancer or if their blockage responds well to less invasive treatments. Participants will receive one of the two treatments and will be monitored for two years to track their progress and any future incidents of obstruction. This trial aims to find better ways to manage this challenging condition and improve the quality of life for those affected.
