ClinConnect Summary

The Nurturing Care Family Navigator trial is studying whether a special support program can help new mothers who are struggling with food insecurity, which means they don’t have enough food to eat. This program connects participants with a Family Navigator, who provides personalized help for six months. The goal is to improve food security for low-income women who are on Medicaid or are uninsured, especially those who have just given birth. Researchers want to find out if this support can not only increase access to food but also help mothers feel more confident in using community resources.

To be eligible for this study, participants need to be women aged 18 or older with infants up to two weeks old, who live in specific areas of Nevada and are currently patients at the UNLV Pediatric clinic. Participants will receive one-on-one support sessions each week for the first three months, followed by monthly sessions for the next three months. They will also have check-in calls with a research assistant at various points over the year. This trial is actively recruiting participants, aiming to make a significant impact on the lives of mothers and their children in need.
