ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how a special walking program, where adolescents walk with dogs, can help improve breathing and physical activity in teenagers who have end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and are receiving regular hemodialysis (a treatment for kidney failure). Many of these young patients often feel tired and have trouble with their breathing and physical activity levels, which can affect their quality of life. The study aims to see if walking with dogs, combined with using a device called an incentive spirometer (which helps improve breathing), can make a positive difference.
To participate in the trial, teenagers aged 12 to 18 with ESRD who are on regular hemodialysis are eligible. However, those with certain health issues, like heart or lung problems, bone injuries, or liver disease, cannot join. Participants can expect to engage in a walking program with dogs, which may help them feel better physically and improve their overall well-being. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it represents an exciting opportunity for adolescents to potentially enhance their health while enjoying time with dogs.
