ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at different ways to place a central line, which is a special type of IV used to give medicine or fluids directly into a large vein in infants. The trial will compare three methods: an open technique, a modified Seldinger's technique (which involves a guide wire), and a closed ultrasound-guided technique. The goal is to find out which method is the safest, works best, takes the least time, and keeps the vein open for future use.
To be part of the study, infants from birth up to two years old who need this type of line for medical or surgical reasons can be included. However, infants with certain conditions, such as those who have had previous central lines or have blockages in their veins, won’t be eligible. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but once it starts, families can expect to learn more about the procedure and how it may help improve the care of their child in the hospital.
