ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on preventing obesity in American Indian youth by testing a special health program designed for 4th graders in rural tribal schools. The main goal is to see if this program helps improve students' eating habits and physical activity compared to 3rd graders who won’t be part of the program. Researchers will look at things like the students’ diet, physical activity levels, height, and weight, and they will also gather information about how kids feel about their school environment and food options.
To participate, students need to be in 3rd or 4th grade at one of the schools involved in the study and have permission from their parents. They should be able to attend a baseline assessment and a 3-day summer camp. Students with certain allergies or limitations on physical activity won't be included. This study will help us learn more about how culturally relevant programs can make a difference in preventing obesity among young people in these communities.
