ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of a medication called Saxenda (liraglutide) on weight loss before bariatric surgery in adolescents with obesity. The researchers want to see if taking Saxenda along with a diet plan can help patients lose more weight before their surgery compared to just following the diet alone. There will be two groups in the study: one will receive Saxenda and diet, while the other will only follow the diet.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be seeking bariatric surgery and have a body mass index (BMI) of over 35. They should be between 18 and 74 years old and must have health insurance from Österreichische Gesundheitskasse. Participants will need to commit to a preoperative diet and attend follow-up appointments for blood tests and weight measurements. It's important to know that people with previous weight loss surgeries, certain health issues, or those unwilling to follow the diet will not be able to join the study. This trial is not yet recruiting, so interested individuals will need to wait for further updates.
