ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "Sex DiffErences in PrehoSpitAl Stroke MEdicine" is focused on understanding how men and women experience and are treated for strokes before they reach the hospital. Strokes can be life-threatening, and getting the right care quickly is crucial. However, there is evidence that men and women may be managed differently in emergency situations, which could affect their treatment outcomes. This study aims to gather information about how emergency medical services (EMS) diagnose and treat patients suspected of having a stroke, particularly looking for any differences based on gender.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be adults aged 18 and older who call for emergency help due to stroke symptoms. The study will include individuals diagnosed with a stroke by EMS at the scene or confirmed later at the hospital. Participants will help researchers understand how treatment may vary and improve future care efforts. This trial is important because it is the first large-scale international project to explore these differences in stroke care outside of the hospital setting, ultimately aiming to enhance training for emergency responders and raise awareness about this critical issue.
